Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964 was a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first vice president to be female and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as also the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a member and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. She was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and was elected again in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for health care, federal de-scheduling and the legalization of cannabis, a path to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. Her name is well-known due to her direct questioning of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
